Documenting Delight: day three hundred and six {but I'm not a big girl!}

If you want to get a hostile reaction from Harper all you have to do is make reference to her being a “big girl”. Most little kids love to be called a “big kid” but not this lass. She’s the Peter Pan of the toddler world, she would just prefer to be a “baby girl”, thank you very much. Maybe she likes the simplicity of being a baby or maybe it’s because no one expects a baby to put their toys away or brush their teeth? Whatever it is, Harper thinks being a baby is where it’s at.

Today Harper was in baby role play mode:
H: Mummy you be the Mummy and I be the baby. You take care of me.

Off she crawled and came back with a toy dummy. I placed her on her back and she started sucking on the dummy, which is quite hilarious considering she would never take a dummy as a baby. Oh boy do I wish she did back then.

Probably a bit late to take up settling habit now though?

Documenting Delight: day two hundred and ninety nine {not one but two snow white costumes}

After Harper's music morning with Kate, our four kids got together for a lunchtime playdate. Much to Harper’s delight Lily has the most impressive dress up collection, one that includes not one but two Snow White costumes. Sharing issues over that much desired dress up-  eliminated!
I love this busy and colourful image: two girls very happy with their costumes, one little brother who wasn’t going to miss out on a photo op and sweet Finn in the background engaged in his own imaginative play moment.

Documenting Delight: day two hundred and ninety four {superb bedhair}

I think I am going to have to put this set down as my favourite of Harper so far this year. Her hair in the morning is a perfect reflection of how she sleeps in the evening; constant movement, tossing, turning, spinning and basically lying all over Lachie and I.

These photographs show Harper as I know her best: wild, cheeky and completely lovable.

Documenting Delight: day two hundred and eight five {big bubble fun}

Yesterday we arrived at my Mum’s house for a little school holiday break and a catch up with family and friends. Living 4.5 hours away from their Nana, Finn and Harper always look forward to these trips.

This afternoon we headed out to my Mum’s backyard for a bit of bubble fun.  It was wonderful to watch Finn and Harper take concrete bubble duty rolls; Finn was the bubble maker and Harper was the bubble popper. They were happy to stick with these roles for over 30 minutes. Yes you heard right, no squabbling over whose turn it was to hold the bubble wand. It was bliss. Working with a prime lens, it was also a brilliant work out for me. I don’t think I have run that much in a very long time!

Docyumenting Delight: day two hundred and eight four {bubble gun}

Call me the fun police but I’m not a fan of toy guns. But here Finn is with one because:

a.       It blows bubbles (harmless and all that)

b.       It was a present from his great grandmother ( I’m not that mean that I wouldn’t  accept a present from an adored great nana now am I? Of coarse not.)
